I’m here to simplify the therapy process

My name is Ibinye (pronounced ee-been-yay).  I’m a Black Christian immigrant therapist in Houston, TX. I’m a highly sensitive, recovered people pleaser and perfectionist.

I get you.

I help women like you move from doing too much and anxiety, to calm and confidence.

A bit about me

  • I’m not just a nod and smile therapist. I believe therapy should work. That means setting clear goals when we start our work and meeting weekly until your goals are complete. I check in with you periodically to make sure we’re actually on track. No time wasting here.

  • We’ll laugh A LOT in therapy. Life is short, so we can’t be serious all the time. Most of my clients wonder why they didn't come to me sooner.

  • I’m a Christian therapist in Houston who loves to incorporate Bible into our work (if you want me to). I don’t interpret scripture or indoctrinate my clients. I leave that to your pastor and The Holy Spirit.

  • I give you actual tools to help you tackle the hard things. That means homework. It could be a journal prompt, a challenge or just something for you to ponder. I only work with women and couples who are ready to do the work.

  • I’m a Nigerian immigrant who is extra passionate about helping women heal from trauma and anxiety, lead with their hearts and show up with authenticity.

  • Therapy with me is easy. That means show up as you are. I don’t care if you have a bonnet on your head, if you’re doing therapy in your car, if you’re carrying your baby in session or if you’re dressed to the nines. All I care about is that you are comfortable in session.

  • I only take on clients I can actually get great results for. I’m not the therapist for everyone. If we schedule a consult call and we’re not a great fit, I’ll refer you to someone who can best serve you. It’s at the core of my ethics and values.

  • I’m a blogger. I have over 80 blog posts that answer majority of the questions you probably have. I pride myself in being super helpful and making the therapy process easy. Check it out.

  • I have an obsession with great quality sleep, standing up for yourself and breaking unhealthy generational cycles.

Here’s the academic stuff you probably want to know about

  • I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University.

  • I’m licensed in California (#93384) and Texas (#204180). Look me up to ensure I’m legit.

  • I’m trained in Brainspotting Therapy phase 1 and 2, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method couples therapy level 1 and 2, Prepare-Enrich and many more areas. If I were to list them all, you’d be sick of me.

To work with me, click here to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call, so that we can determine if we are a great fit for one another. You’ll get a response within 2 business days.

If you’re not sure what to ask me on the consult call, here’s a blog post I wrote to help you out.

Here’s a snapshot of the clients I typically work with:

Women with insomnia who want to fall sleep and stay asleep without medications in 6 weeks.

Couples who want to stop fighting, become best friends and actually learn how to talk to each other.

Women with anxiety who were raised in toxic family environments, who want to find their fit in the world, use their voice and learn how to set clear boundaries. Some of my clients are immigrants, first generation Americans, women of color, entrepreneurs and creatives, women with trauma and Highly Sensitive People (HSPs).

I only take on clients whom I know I can help. All other clients will be referred out.

Therapy with me is always individualized to suit your specific needs. Here’s my process

  1. Schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can figure out how counseling in Murrieta, CA or therapy in Houston, TX can help you reduce your anxiety or finally get rid of trauma.

  2. During our first session together, we’ll identify what's not working for you and create specific, achievable goals together. I’m not here to just nod and smile. I’ll give you actual tools to help you.

  3. After our first session, we’ll work together weekly until you meet your goals.
